Development & Labour of the
Labour Relations Code
provides for the appointment, by the Minister of Labour, of a Joint Advisory Committee
(JAC) consisting of seven people--the Director of CAAB plus two representatives each of
trade unions, employers and arbitrators. The JAC advises the Director on the training and
education of arbitrators and settlement officers, on research and publication of
information concerning labour arbitration and on the establishment and maintenance of a
register of arbitrators.
On April 22, 2004, the Minister of Skills,
Development and Labour appointed two representatives each of trade unions, employers and
arbitrators to the JAC. These representatives will each serve a two year term.
